Mega-Pack: Spicy Conference Discounts
Today I have some treats for you, valued readers.
I’ve managed to assemble sizable discounts to several industry conferences, exclusively for my newsletter subscribers!
I do not receive any type of compensation for these, nor do I have any ownership interest in these events.
LeadSimple University: $250 Off (I’m a keynote speaker).
Property Meld Summit: Buy-1-get-1 Free (enter code BOGOMX23)
Re-Convene: $500 Off (enter code “RC2023” to access purchase page, then promo code “PETER23” for the discount). (I’m on stage.)
The value of networking with peers (and potential mentors or investors) at these events simply cannot be overstated. I would not be where I am today if I hadn’t started regularly attending industry conferences. If you’re on the fence, I absolutely recommend picking 1 or 2 conferences to attend every year and carving out the time. I guarantee you won’t regret it.
Please forward this issue to your friends in the industry who may benefit from these discounts.
Who Is Applying for Crane?
The application deadline for Crane is Tuesday, so if you’re interested but haven’t applied yet, fair warning. Applications will close indefinitely after Tuesday.
What is Crane? A brand new community that Wolfgang Croskey and I created for 100+ unit property management company owners & operators.
We have close to 50 applicants so far, and I got curious about the types of companies that are applying to join our community. So I quickly put together these Excel graphs based on the intake form data:

Industry News & Events
Trust Accounting: Get It Right or You’re Done. I’ll be discussing the ins and outs of trust accounting on this PayProp webinar, including my “iron law of trust accounting.” Thursday 9/14 at 1pm ET.
Pure has completed their 70th acquisition… wow. These guys are moving quick.
Poplar acquired Silver River, a Maryland PM company owned by a friend of mine, last year. The news was just made public.
I missed this back in March… HRG picked up 900 units from Roofstock. That brings HRG to over 40k units total, which is wild. They must be the largest SFR 3rd party manager in the country?
I also missed the news that Evernest picked up the “retail” (hilarious euphanism) doors from Darwin Homes earlier this year (the rest of Darwin was sold to Pagaya).
PM Ownership of Real Estate: Poll Results
A few weeks ago I ran a poll, asking PM company owners if they owned rental properties. 84 of you voted, and results are in:
I found this pretty surprising… anecdotally I would have expected far fewer PM company owners to own that much real estate. I do find this encouraging though; as I mentioned during that issue, there’s really no reason that we (professional PMs) shouldn’t be getting a piece of the action when we’re already doing the hard part all day every day!
Brand New Podcast Episodes
Season 3 of my property management podcast, Owner Occupied, is in full swing.

Episode 6, Engineering Luck with The Real Estate God, was just released on Wednesday.
Episode 5, Competing Against 3% Management Fees with Todd Ortscheid, came out last week.
Episode 4, Building a 100M HoldCo with Michael Girdley, was the week before.
Next week we’ll hear from Brad Larsen about how he built a self-running property management company.

Closing Thought
In a nation where the American Dream is to own a home, renters often feel that society views them as second-class citizens. Renters are misunderstood; and for the first time, we have data to show that and amplify their voices. Here are six powerful stats from this… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
