I'm back! Rent control BANNED in Ohio?

Ohio Bans Rent Control Statewide

Signed into law a couple weeks ago. Good to see my state of Ohio passing common-sense laws like this, and I love Jay Parsons' take on it:

I'm Back To Work!

After 5 weeks off (including a 3-day sailing trip in Maine) and no-contact with my company RL Property Management, I'm back in the office this week. I wrote about some lessons learned on Twitter:

New Podcasts (skip if you hate podcasts)

I appeared as a guest on the excellent 300 to 3000 podcast, hosted by Matthew Whitaker and Spencer Sutton of Evernest. Had a great time talking with them about building an audience, marketing your property management business, building an email list, brand strategy, and more. Evernest manages over 7,000 units and I interviewed Matthew on my own show a few weeks ago.

Just released yesterday - new episode of my show Owner Occupied. This week I spoke with Brandon Laughridge, owner of North Terrace Property Management (manages approx. 1500 units). Brandon and I spoke in depth about his purchase of the business with an SBA loan, tuck-in acquisitions, nuances and valuable work-arounds when dealing with SBA loans, SMBash, and managing & investing in boutique multifamily property.

HoldCo Conference

I'm attending the HoldCo Conference in Cleveland later this month - will you be there? Reply and let me know if so! If you're not sure if HoldCo Conf is for you, go here to read about it. Hosted by my friends (and fellow Ohioans) Kelcey Lehrich and John Wilson, it should be a blast.

And if you decide to register, use code PETER for $500 off your ticket. Hope to see you there!
